The Royal District Story
The Royal District was founded because of the lack of cultural representation in my community. I could not identify with the logos that were being projected in my experience nor from the brands that were currently in stores abroad. Some of the trends such as sagging your pants, Tall Tees were not fit for a business world, meeting a nice lady for a date, or even family outings!
One day I decided to embark on a mission to save money and become more financially literate so I could somehow influence the situation at hand.
So, during my search I purchased a book "Black Economics" by Jawanza Kunjufu that intrigued me. I read chapter about a meeting discussing business between author, European, and Asian gentlemen they asked the author (stating for him not be offended), but what would you do if the European and Asian men packed their bags and left your communities? What would you eat and what would you wear?
I was in deep thought and all I could think at that moment was how much influence did I have over my life and dress code!
what I would wear day to day or how was i truly projecting myself to the world! This meeting inspired me so much that I made the conscious decision to start a Clothing Brand!
